Lock Ian Groenewald, who was a Maties player for three seasons and also represented the Western Province Vodacom Cup team during his time at Stellenbosch, who moved on to represent Toulon in a short stint as a medical joker, will be returning from Italy to join the Tafel Lager Griquas team for two years from 1 May 2019.

Former Bulls tighthead prop John-Roy Jenkinson will also be joining the Tafel Lager Griquas on a two year contract. He has just returned from a stint in Japan with Sanix Blues and will be joining Griquas from 1 March 2019. Jenkinson also previously represented the SA u20 team, Maties / Pukke in the Varsity Cup and also the Cheetahs.

“With a large amount of our players not currently with us in order to prepare for the fast approaching season, we really look forward to welcoming the new signings as well as the current Griquas players who are on loan with other teams so that we can commence their integration into our program and prepare optimally. This brings much needed depth and also creates healthy competition for places. We still have some positions that we are working on and time will tell if we have been successful or not in obtaining the services of those players.” said the Tafel Lager Griquas Coach, Brent Janse van Rensburg.
