Cape Town water outages: what to expect from 3 to 10 May 2026

Cape Town water outages run from 3 to 10 May 2026 as the Faure and Blackheath plants shut down. See affected suburbs and storage tips for the week.

Cape Town water outages will hit large parts of the metro from 3 to 10 May 2026, after the City of Cape Town confirmed back-to-back shutdowns at the Faure and Blackheath water treatment plants. The Faure pipeline recharges from 23:59 on 5 May, while Blackheath shuts down from 07:00 on 6 May until 23:59 on 10 May.

Affected areas include Rondebosch, Mowbray, Oranjezicht, Bergvliet, Constantia, Goodwood, Delft, Hout Bay, Ocean View and Lakeside. The City has urged all residents to store drinking water and limit non-essential use during the window.
