JOHANNESBURG. – Thousands of Gauteng households face scheduled load reduction outages between 1 and 7 June 2026, even as Eskom marks a national milestone of 392 consecutive days without load shedding.

Which areas are affected

The weekly schedule covers parts of Johannesburg, Ekurhuleni, Tshwane, the Vaal and the West Rand. Cuts fall during the morning peak between 05:00 and 09:00 and the evening peak between 17:00 and 22:00. Unlike national load shedding, load reduction targets specific areas where demand regularly exceeds network capacity, helping prevent local infrastructure from collapsing.

No national load shedding

Eskom said its Winter Outlook, covering 1 April to 31 August 2026, projects no load shedding due to sustained improvements in plant performance. Residents are urged to monitor official Eskom and municipal channels for any changes to the local schedule.
