Babies born from 1 January 2025 are officially Generation Beta, according to Australian social researcher Mark McCrindle, who coined the label. The cohort spans 2025 to 2039 and follows Generation Alpha (2010–2024).
A life immersed in AI
McCrindle predicts Gen Beta will be the first generation to live fully immersed in AI and automation from birth, with seamless integration between physical and digital environments. Education is expected to shift toward AI-driven, personalised learning pathways, wearable health technology, and competency-based assessment rather than standardised curricula.
Climate, instability and global citizenship
The generation will inherit pressing global challenges — climate change, sociopolitical instability and rapid urbanisation — making sustainability less of a preference and more of an expectation. Raised mostly by Millennial and older Gen Z parents, Gen Beta is projected to value adaptability, individuality and global citizenship.
By 2035, Gen Beta will number in the billions.
