VILJOENSKROON. – Eskom has broken ground on a new 75-megawatt solar power project at its Lethabo Power Station in the Free State, marking a step in the utility’s move into renewable generation.
A R1.2 billion investment
The R1.2 billion project will add solar capacity alongside the existing coal-fired station, forming part of Eskom’s broader plan to diversify its generation mix and support the national grid. Construction began in late May 2026.
