Author and motivational speaker Rachel Kolisi has withdrawn from this weekend’s Kingsmead Book Fair after undergoing unforeseen surgery, telling followers she needs time to recover.
Kolisi, the estranged wife of Springboks captain Siya Kolisi, announced her withdrawal on Instagram Stories ahead of the Johannesburg literary event.
What Rachel Kolisi said
“Unfortunately, due to unforeseen surgery and needing time to recover, I will no longer be able to attend the @kingsmeadbf,” she wrote. “Wishing the Kingsmead team and all the incredible authors participating all the best for the festival this weekend.”
The cancellation follows her hospital admission on 18 May, which she initially shared with a light-hearted post alongside her two children, Nicholas and Keziah. She did not disclose the nature of the procedure but reassured fans that she was recovering well.
A busy year for the author
The update comes during one of the busiest periods of Kolisi’s public career. She recently launched her book and documentary, both titled Falling Forward, following her split from Siya Kolisi in October 2024 after eight years of marriage.
