South Africa’s highest cultural honour
The Order of Ikhamanga in Gold recognises exceptional achievement in arts, culture, literature, music, journalism or sport. Erasmus is being honoured for guiding the Springboks to back-to-back Rugby World Cup victories.
Part of the 2026 National Orders ceremony
Chancellor of the National Orders Phindile Baleni confirmed Erasmus is one of 40 South Africans and foreign nationals to receive National Orders this year. Government cited his contribution to social cohesion and to lifting the country’s international standing.
