SASSA e-Life Certification allows selected grant beneficiaries to confirm they are still alive and eligible without travelling to a SASSA office.
Who must complete it
Life certification is required only when SASSA officially requests it, mainly for older persons and disability grant recipients. It confirms continued eligibility and helps prevent payments to deceased or ineligible recipients.
How it works
The self-service portal uses secure biometric verification and replaces the older in-person process. SASSA has urged beneficiaries with internet access to use it instead of queuing at offices. Those who ignore a certification request risk having their grant suspended, and continued non-compliance can result in the grant lapsing, which means reapplying. Check official notices through SASSA, and see more SASSA guides here.
