The SASSA SRD grant has been extended, with the R370 Social Relief of Distress payment now funded until March 2027.
How long the grant will run
Government has allocated R36.4 billion to continue the SRD grant until the end of the 2026/27 financial year. The grant supports more than eight million working-age South Africans who are unable to support themselves.
What stays the same
The payment remains R370 a month and was not part of the April increase applied to permanent grants. SRD payments continue to be processed separately, usually in rolling batches later in the month, and beneficiaries should confirm individual dates through the official SRD portal.
