TMPD impounds 19 public transport vehicles in Pretoria CBD operation

The Tshwane Metro Police Department has impounded 19 public transport vehicles during an enforcement operation in the Pretoria CBD.

The operation took place on 11 May 2026 at the corner of Lilian Ngoyi Street and Jeff Masemola Street, where the TMPD Public Transport Unit issued Section 56 notices for various offences committed by the operators.

Weighbridge operations on the same day

The TMPD Overloading Control Unit also conducted checks at two weighbridges in the city on 11 May. At the Centurion weighbridge, 15 vehicles were tested and weighed. Two were found to be overloaded, with five warning notices issued.

At the Akasia weighbridge, officers weighed and tested 35 vehicles. Nine were found to be overloaded, three warning notices were issued, and five Section 44 notices of discontinuation were issued for non-compliance.

The TMPD said the operations form part of its ongoing efforts to enforce road traffic regulations and ensure public safety on Tshwane roads.
