HARRISMITH. – The body of an unknown man was found on Thursday 1 October at a construction site near Makgolokweng outside Harrismith.

Construction workers discovered the body around 13:50 in a shelter used to store concrete pipes.

According to AO Mmako Mophiring, police spokesperson, the deceased is a man of about 35 years old. His body was partially hidden under a pile of concrete pipes.

The concrete pipes were removed so that police and emergency service personnel could access the scene. Preliminary observations suggest that the body may have been there for a couple of days.

The man had an apparent open wound to the neck and visible bruising to the head and shoulders.

His identity is still unknown. Police are attempting to identify him and inform his family.
