CAPE TOWN. – A Cape Town water awareness programme run by the City has reached more than 95 schools across the metro in 2026, with learners at Kommetjie Primary School the latest to take part.
The roadshow is led by Manzi, the City’s water mascot, who uses song, dance, interactive games and quizzes to teach pupils about responsible water use and protecting Cape Town’s water resources.
Teaching the next generation
Learners explore how to save water at home, at school and in their communities. They are also introduced to the City’s New Water Programme, which includes water reuse, desalination and other projects aimed at diversifying supply and reducing reliance on rainfall.
Mayoral Committee Member for Water and Sanitation Zahid Badroodien said the roadshow is “more than an awareness campaign; it is an investment in future generations,” adding that long-term water security also depends on informed and responsible water use.
