Philly Mapulane, chair of the Film and Publications Board, together with Zama Mkosi and dr. Mashilo Boloka, the acting CEO of the council, will host an information session tomorrow on the Films and Publications Amendment Act.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has agreed to the Films and Publications Amendment Act with the new law coming into force on 1 March 2022.
The regulations mainly apply to the sale, rental and streaming of content on various digital platforms in South Africa.
However, the law also introduces much stricter regulations regarding the distribution of online content in the country – also through social media.
