The newly released seventh-generation Ford Mustang GT has already turned heads in South Africa. Debuting at the Festival of Motoring earlier this year, the Mustang offers cutting-edge technology and impressive performance. But for those seeking even more, Shelby South Africa delivers a next-level driving experience with custom upgrades.
Shelby’s Super Snake conversion kit takes the Mustang to new heights. These enhancements deliver more power, fine-tuned handling and unique styling. Once the Shelby components arrive in South Africa, they are sent to the official Shelby Mod Shop in Malmesbury, Western Cape for final assembly. This marks the first time Shelby American has used the 2025 Ford Mustang S650 as a base for their performance upgrades.
Power and precision
The Shelby Super Snake is powered by a supercharged 5.0L V8 engine, pushing out 830+ horsepower (619 kW). This power surge transforms the Mustang into a supercar, offering thrilling acceleration and handling. Shelby’s custom suspension and cooling systems further enhance performance. The result is a car that handles with precision, whether on the road or track.
“We designed the Shelby Super Snake to be the pinnacle of performance,” said Joe Conway, CEO of Shelby American. The car features Shelby Extreme Cooling and a Borla exhaust system, ensuring reliability and an iconic engine sound.
Bold design
The Shelby Super Snake is just as striking visually. Key updates include a vented aluminium hood, carbon fibre front fenders, and a carbon fibre rear wing for improved downforce. The car also features Super Snake stripes, Shelby badging and custom 20-inch magnesium wheels for a high-performance aesthetic. Inside, the cabin gets Shelby’s signature upgrades, such as embroidered floor mats and a serialised dash plaque.
Pricing and availability
Shelby South Africa has secured a limited number of Super Snake conversion kits, with just three available in the first batch. Prices start at R3,640,000 (incl. VAT), including the base vehicle. Final prices may vary based on exchange rates.
