In 2024, Chery reached new heights, setting record-breaking global sales that highlighted the automaker’s rapid growth. Over the year, Chery sold 2,603,916 vehicles worldwide, marking a 38.4% increase. This surge not only surpassed the company’s targets but also outpaced the industry’s growth by 10-20 percentage points.
Local success in South Africa
In South Africa, Chery’s performance was equally impressive. In December, the company sold 1,867 vehicles, led by the Tiggo 4 Pro with 1,059 units. Notably, November 2024 was a standout month, with Chery achieving 2,006 sales. This is its highest monthly total in the region to date.
“2024 has been a phenomenal year for Chery, with continuous growth and notable milestones,” said Jay Jay Botes, General Manager for Chery South Africa. “Ending the year with strong December sales and a new local record in November highlights the trust and enthusiasm South Africans have for our brand. This achievement underscores our dedication to delivering vehicles that cater to the diverse needs of our customers,” Botes added.
Expansion and innovation
Chery’s global footprint expanded further with 1,144,588 units exported, reflecting a 21.4% increase. This solidified Chery’s position as China’s leading passenger vehicle exporter for the 22nd consecutive year. Furthermore, the automaker’s focus on electrified vehicles also paid off, with NEV sales reaching 583,599 units—a 232.7% rise. In December alone, PHEV sales surpassed 100,000 units, marking a 31.9% month-on-month increase.
Milestones and recognitions
2024 was filled with milestones for Chery, including producing its 15 millionth vehicle and exporting the one-millionth Tiggo 7 to international markets. In South Africa, the Tiggo 4 Pro DCT earned the title of Most Improved Car of the Year at the Top Gear South Africa 2024 awards. On the global stage, Chery received numerous accolades, further strengthening its presence in key markets such as Brazil, Egypt, Malaysia, and Saudi Arabia.
