The first T2 models are already in service and the official handover was held this week at Jetour South Africa’s head office in Midrand. The fleet has been fully booked since the vehicles became available.

First direct rental fleet customer for Jetour

“This is Jetour South Africa’s first direct rental fleet customer, making it a significant milestone for our business. Rental car companies are highly selective about the brands and models they introduce into their fleets. They need vehicles that have proven reliability, strong resale value and the ability to perform under the demands of daily rental use,” says Lazola Qungwana, Head of Sales at Jetour South Africa. “Being chosen by a company like Hertz Southern Africa Dollar & Thrifty is a vote of confidence not only in the Jetour T2, but in the Jetour brand as a whole”.

Jetour has held eighth place in South Africa’s new vehicle sales rankings for several consecutive months this year. The brand launched locally in September 2024 and had broken into the country’s top 15 passenger vehicle brands by July the following year. The T-Series launch last October drove sales demand, while the T2’s win at the 2026 South African Car of the Year awards in May further cemented the brand’s local standing.

What the Jetour T2 Odyssey offers rental customers

The Jetour T2 Odyssey combines a spacious interior, generous luggage capacity and advanced driver assistance features. Premium equipment includes heated and ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, a Sony sound system, wireless smartphone connectivity and charging, a 540 degree panoramic view camera and a large infotainment display.

The Jetour T2 Odyssey is available to book in Hertz Southern Africa Dollar & Thrifty’s Group E3 IFAR category, which covers five-seat vehicles with 4×4 capability, automatic transmission, air conditioning, ABS, Bluetooth connectivity, power steering and electric windows.

Jetour targets government and leasing fleets next

“Our growth to date has been driven primarily by individual retail customers. Our entry into the fleet market provides valuable additional brand exposure. We look forward to Hertz Southern Africa Dollar & Thrifty customers experiencing all that Jetour has to offer for themselves,” Qungwana says.

He adds that Jetour is also pursuing opportunities within government fleets and the fleet management and leasing sector.

“Our hope is that our partnership with Hertz Southern Africa Dollar & Thrifty will be the first of many, as we continue building Jetour into a brand that is trusted not only by everyday consumers, but by large-scale fleet operators who put our vehicles to the test every single day”.

Hertz Southern Africa Dollar & Thrifty has operated in South Africa since the 1950s and runs a nationwide network of more than 40 rental locations at major airports and in key cities, offering short-term and long-term mobility solutions for business and leisure customers. Its fleet includes passenger vehicles, SUVs, bakkies and premium models.
