PRETORIA. – Mel Viljoen has initiated contact with Specialised Security Services and offered full cooperation with all ongoing investigations into her activities and those of her husband, Mr. Peet Viljoen.
The development marks a dramatic reversal. Just weeks earlier, on 27 May 2026, Viljoen appeared on Goeiemôre Goodmorning and levelled personal attacks against Mike Bolhuis, the SSS investigator who has pursued the couple for years.
In that interview, Viljoen challenged Bolhuis’s predictions about her arrest. “He said I won’t see the day of light again but here I am. He said they will arrest me on the airport, but here I am,” she stated. She then made insinuations about Bolhuis, saying “I think he is in love with Peet ” and “I think Mike Bolhuis is a bit gay”.
On 24 June 2026, Viljoen made contact with Specialised Security Services and offered her full and unconditional cooperation. She expressed sincere remorse for her past conduct and indicated her willingness to cooperate fully with all active investigations.
On 26 June 2026, Viljoen met formally with Mike Bolhuis at their offices. Mike Bolhuis says during this meeting, she offered profuse apologies for her own behaviour and on behalf of her husband, Peet Viljoen, who faces over 400 charges including corruption, fraud, theft, perjury and forgery. Viljoen stated that she desires to rectify past wrongs and is committed to cooperating fully with SSS and relevant authorities.
“Viljoen convened with the SSS task team to formally confirm her cooperation in writing. She confirmed verbally that Peet Viljoen is in full agreement with her position and wishes to cooperate with all ongoing investigations, though this has not yet been confirmed in writing.”
SSS welcomed the development, noting it will contribute meaningfully toward finalising outstanding investigations and resolving conflicts pending before relevant authorities.
