Every year on 7 June, the world unites to celebrate World Ocean Day. Our oceans are the lifeblood of the planet, providing oxygen, food and a home to countless marine species. But they need our help! Join Breathe Conservation in their annual fundraiser swim and make a difference.

This exciting event offers four swim distances: 800m, 1.6km, 3.2km and 5km. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned swimmer, there’s a challenge for everyone. Gather your family and friends, dive in, and raise awareness for ocean conservation. Every stroke you take supports Breathe Conservation’s environmental education programme.

Not in the area? No problem! Why not create your own World Ocean Day challenge? Organize a swim at your local beach, lake, or pool. Get friends and family involved, make it a fun day and spread the message. Every action counts!

Why it matters

The ocean covers over 70% of our planet, producing at least half of the oxygen we breathe. It regulates climate, supports marine life and provides food for billions of people. However, pollution, overfishing, and climate change are putting immense pressure on marine ecosystems. By taking part in this event or organisng your own, you are helping to raise awareness and contribute to a healthier ocean.

How else can you help?

  • Reduce single-use plastics
  • Support sustainable seafood choices
  • Participate in local beach clean-ups
  • Spread the word on social media using #WorldOceanDay

Every small effort makes a big impact. Together, we can create a wave of change!
