The SASSA grant increase 2026 took effect from April, lifting most permanent grant amounts for the 2026/27 financial year.
New grant amounts
The Older Persons, Disability and Care Dependency grants rose by R80 to R2,400, while beneficiaries aged 75 and older receive R2,420. The War Veterans Grant increased to R2,420. The Foster Child Grant rose to R1,290, and the Child Support Grant and Grant-in-Aid increased to R580.
What stayed the same
The R370 Social Relief of Distress grant was not part of the increase and remains unchanged. The new permanent amounts apply automatically, so beneficiaries do not need to take any action to receive them. The figures were confirmed by the Department of Social Development.
