SASSA SRD R370 banking details update: how to change yours
A SASSA SRD banking details update is the most common reason approved beneficiaries fail to receive their R370 grant. The SRD portal lets you change between bank deposit and Cash Send, but the account must be in your own name.
How to update your SRD banking details
- Go to srd.sassa.gov.za.
- Click How do I change my banking details?
- Enter your South African ID number.
- You will receive a secure link via SMS to the cellphone number registered with SASSA.
- Click the link, enter your bank account details, and submit.
- Wait for the verification SMS confirming the change was accepted.
Cash Send instead of a bank account
If you do not have a bank account, choose Cash Send. SASSA sends a unique code to your registered phone number, which you can redeem at participating retailers, including Shoprite, Checkers, Boxer, Pick n Pay, U-Save and selected ATMs.
Common mistakes
- Using a parent’s or partner’s bank account — SASSA only pays into accounts in the applicant’s own name.
- Switching banking details mid-month — the change may apply only from the next cycle.
- Changing your phone number first without updating SASSA — the verification SMS never arrives.
If you also need to change your registered phone number, see SASSA SRD phone number change.
