SASSA SRD R370 phone number change: how to update yours
A SASSA SRD phone number change is essential if you have lost your SIM, switched networks or moved to a new number. The SRD system sends every OTP, status update and Cash Send code to your registered cellphone, so an outdated number stops the process.
How to change your number
- Visit srd.sassa.gov.za.
- Choose the option to change your cellphone number.
- Enter your South African ID number and your new cellphone number.
- Verify your identity by answering the security questions.
- Submit, then enter the OTP that is sent to your new number.
Other ways to update your number
You can also update your number on the SASSA WhatsApp service on 082 046 8553, by calling 0800 60 10 11, or by visiting your nearest SASSA office with your South African ID document.
Why this matters
If your number is wrong when SASSA tries to send you an SMS code for a Cash Send payment, you will not be able to collect the grant. Update the number well before your expected payment date.
