The SASSA SRD R370 grant pays R370 per month to unemployed South Africans who do not receive any other form of income support. The SASSA SRD R370 grant was extended in the 2026 Budget until 31 March 2027 through an additional R36.4 billion allocation. The grant amount remains unchanged at R370.

Who qualifies for the SASSA SRD R370 grant

You must be between 18 and 59 years old. You must be a South African citizen, permanent resident or recognised refugee. You must be unemployed and not receiving any other social grant, UIF payment, NSFAS bursary or stipend. You must earn less than R624 per month from any source.

How to apply for the SASSA SRD R370 grant

The SASSA SRD R370 grant is applied for online only. There is no in-person application. Visit srd.sassa.gov.za, click Apply Now, enter your ID number, provide a cellphone number and email address, and submit your banking or retailer payment preference. SASSA verifies your details against SARS, UIF, NSFAS and bank databases.

SASSA SRD R370 grant monthly review

You do not need to reapply for the SASSA SRD R370 grant each month. SASSA checks your income and circumstances automatically each month using bank verification. If you exceed the R624 threshold in any month, your application is declined for that month only. You may qualify again the following month.
