Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus said the necessary building blocks were in place for the international season as the team wrapped up their second and final Springbok alignment camp in Cape Town on Thursday, 21 May 2026.

According to a press release issued by SA Rugby, the camp included boardroom sessions presented by the coaches to align players on team structures, a gym session, and a closing visit to SARU House.

“Every year after an alignment camp, we say we are happy with where we are currently, but I guess it will only be clear when we start playing,” Erasmus said.

Erasmus noted that more than 60 players had attended the two alignment camps, including young players new to the system. Some injured players were absent and others attended virtually.

“In general, I think we are in a good place as a group, and everyone knows what we expect of each other when we start training,” he said.

Erasmus will name his training squad in the next two weeks. On-field preparations begin in June ahead of the season-opening double-header in Gqeberha on Saturday, 20 June.
