The former mayor of Johannesburg, Kabelo Gwamanda, has threatened Johannesburg speaker Nobuhle Mthembu with legal action.
This follows Gwamanda’s dismissal as the MMC for community development after an internal investigation related to fraud allegations.
In a letter from his attorney yesterday, Gwamanda stated that his dismissal did not meet legal requirements, claiming he was dismissed without warning and was not given a chance to respond to the allegations before the decision was made.
He also claims he found out about his dismissal through social media and is demanding an apology.
Gwamanda further alleges that the speaker created an atmosphere of hostility and bias against him with her public statements. His attorneys have given Mthembu until tomorrow to respond to their demands and issue an apology.
