The National Consumer Commission (NCC) and Georgia's competition and consumer agency (GCCA) have signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen cooperation on consumer protection.
Phetho Ntaba, NCC spokesperson, says the agreement was signed in Tbilisi, Georgia by Hardin Ratshisusu, the NCC's acting commissioner, and Prof. Irakli Lekvinadze, the GCCA chairperson. The two institutions will exchange information, expertise and best practice on investigations, inspections, law enforcement and compliance, among other matters. The agreement also focuses on emerging issues such as online and cross-border trade. Ratshisusu says the agreement is timely because trade is increasingly taking place online and consumers frequently use products and services from outside their own countries.
The signing took place during an international conference on consumer protection in Georgia.
