WES-KAAP. – Truda Foods het reageer nadat bewerings op sosiale media gemaak is dat “pille” in ‘n pakkie Chippa Chips, deur hulle vervaardig, gevind is. Die beweerde voorval het in Tafelsig, op die Kaapse Vlakte, plaasgevind en het wyd binne die Mitchell’s Plain-gemeenskap aandag getrek en word ondersoek.
Truda Foods het op 11 Junie ‘n amptelike verklaring uitgereik waarin die maatskappy bevestig dat hulle bewus is van die gerugte wat op sosiale media sirkuleer. Die maatskappy beklemtoon dat verbruikersveiligheid hul hoogste prioriteit is en dat elke bewering ernstig opgeneem en deeglik ondersoek word. Tot dusver is geen bewyse aan Truda Foods voorgelê wat enige verband bevestig tussen ‘n beweerde pil en hul vervaardigingsproses nie.
Fight Against Crime (FACSA) het Truda Foods se verklaring gedeel en op 12 Junie op sosiale media gesê: “We would like to update you following our engagement with Truda Foods regarding the incident reported in Tafelsig. Based on our discussions with Truda Foods and information currently available, we note the following:
* The tablets observed in the circulating videos appear to be in their original white state and separate from the chips.
* No video has shown a sealed packet being opened to reveal a tablet inside the packaging.
At this stage, the exact cause of the complaint has not been confirmed. There could be several possible explanations and speculation would be irresponsible without full evidence. Truda Foods has invited FACSA to visit their production facility. The facility operates under surveillance and strict hygiene standards. They are working closely with SAPS, the Department of Health and other relevant stakeholders to investigate the matter and provide clarity. We understand that cases like this often circulate widely without follow-up information once investigations have been concluded.
