WESTERN CAPE. – Mark Lifman (57), a businessman from the Western Cape and reportedly a known figure in the criminal world, was shot dead on Sunday in a parking area at the Garden Route Mall in George.
Col. André Traut told The Daily Pod that police were called to a shooting incident outside the Garden Route Mall in George around 11:30.
“A 57-year-old man was killed by unknown assailants who fled the scene.”
Traut said the circumstances of the incident are part of the police investigation, and more information cannot be disclosed at this stage.
“The identity of the victim still needs to be confirmed by SAPS.”
The George Herald identified the deceased as Lifman and reported that the suspects fled the scene in a white VW Polo with a CY registration number. Lifman was facing several charges, including murder, attempted murder, money laundering, and gang-related crimes. The deceased was scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
