SASSA SRD R370 pending status — what it means in June 2026

A SASSA SRD R370 pending status means SASSA is still verifying your eligibility for that specific month. It is neither an approval nor a decline. The agency is running automated checks against Home Affairs, SARS, the UIF and NSFAS databases.

Why your status is pending

SASSA re-verifies every SRD applicant each month, which is why a status that was Approved last month can show Pending this month. The verification confirms your income is still below the R624 threshold, that no other government grant or NSFAS payment has been triggered, and that your identity matches Home Affairs records.

How long pending usually takes

For returning applicants, the pending phase typically clears within one to two weeks. For first-time applicants, two to four weeks is normal. During peak verification windows at month-end, processing can take longer.

When pending becomes a problem

If your status has remained pending for more than four weeks without changing, it is worth checking that no one else has tried to apply using your ID, that your banking details are correct, and that your registered phone number still works. Do not reapply while a pending status is active — that creates a duplicate flag and slows things down.

What to do

  • Wait at least two weeks before escalating.
  • Confirm your payment method on the SRD portal.
  • If pending exceeds four weeks, call 0800 60 10 11 or visit a SASSA office with your ID.
  • If the status eventually changes to Approved, SASSA will back-pay for the months you were eligible.
