SASSA SRD R370 reconsideration: how to apply

A SASSA SRD R370 reconsideration lets you ask SASSA to review a declined monthly application. It is a separate step from a formal appeal to the Independent Tribunal for Social Assistance Appeals (ITSAA), and SASSA recommends trying reconsideration first.

How to submit a reconsideration

  1. Visit the SRD portal at srd.sassa.gov.za.
  2. Choose the reconsideration option.
  3. Enter your South African ID number and the cellphone number you used to apply.
  4. Verify your identity using the OTP sent to your phone.
  5. Select the declined month or months. You must submit a separate reconsideration for each declined month.
  6. Submit the request and save the reference number.

What to do while you wait

Keep reapplying each month so that your eligibility for the current cycle continues to be assessed. A pending reconsideration does not pause your monthly applications.

If the reconsideration is declined

The next step is a formal appeal to ITSAA. See our guide on how the Independent Tribunal appeal works.

For the official rules and time limits, visit www.sassa.gov.za or call 0800 60 10 11.
