JOHANNESBURG, GAUTENG. – Die M1-hoofweg is Woensdag vir ’n wyle gesluit nadat ’n ondergrondse brand tussen Empireweg en die Crown-wisselaar uitgebreek het.
Volgens Robert Mulaudzi, woordvoerder van Johannesburg-EMS, het ondergrondse kabels glo die brand veroorsaak. Hy sê die brand het vroeg die oggend uitgebreek.
Die ondergrondse kabels het grotendeels Braamfontein en omliggende dele se kragtoevoer ondersteun. Verskeie areas is sonder krag gelaat.
Swart rook het die lug uit ondergrondse tonnels gevul. Geen beserings is aangemeld nie.

City Power said it suspects that the fire on the M1 highway in Johannesburg may have been sparked by vandals.
