FREE STATE. – A 32-year-old woman was found dead this morning (Saturday) in an abandoned building in Le Roux Street in Theunissen. She had multiple stab wounds to her head and stomach. The police are investigating the incident as a murder and are not ruling out the possibility of sexual assault.

Sgt. Palesa Thabana, police spokesperson, says Theunissen detectives are investigating the murder after police were called to a possible murder scene at around 03:40. A member of the neighbourhood watch directed them to the abandoned property where the woman's body was found. She was later identified by her next of kin as Nthabiseng Moiloa (32).

A preliminary investigation showed that she had reportedly sustained approximately 14 stab wounds. She was declared dead by emergency services personnel at the scene. According to police, the neighbourhood watch member had discovered the body while investigating a possible theft of copper cable and called the police.

The motive for the murder remains unknown and no one has been arrested yet. Police are appealing to anyone with information to contact Sgt. Nnana Thekiso on 071 442 9742 or 082 301 3028.
