Mohammed Qiran Canterbury (8 mnde.) is Vrydag oorlede na hy deur dagsorgpersoneel in Bonteheuwel na ‘n hospitaal geneem is.
Angus McKenzie, DA-raadslid van Bonteheuwel, het die nuus van die baba se afsterwe op sy Facebook-blad gedeel.
Na bewering is die baba Vrydagoggend by sy dagsorgfasiliteit afgelaai. Vroegmiddag het personeel besef dat daar fout is en het hulle met die baba na ‘n nabygeleë hospitaal gehaas.
Hy is met aankoms by die hospitaal dood verklaar.
Omstandighede rondom sy dood is onbekend.
McKenzie het medelye teenoor die baba se ouers, Taswell Canterbury en Zaidah Adams, uitgespreek.
It was with deep, deep sadness that I was informed this evening of the passing of 8 month old, Mohammed Qiran Canterbury.
Little Mohammed Qiran was dropped off at his daycare in Bonteheuwel this morning.
Daycare staff in the early afternoon realised there was a problem and rushed him to the nearby Vanguard Hospital.
Mohammed Quiran was declared dead on arrival.
The circumstances surrounding the death are not immediately available, and an autopsy and investigation will commence.
At this point in time, I would like to pass on my deepest condolences to the parents, Taswell Canterbury and Zaidah Adams, as well as the family who are known to me.
I also wish to express my condolences to the daycare and their staff.
This is a hugely unfortunate incident, which I will ensure is thoroughly investigated.
Indeed, this is heartbreaking and immensely sad.
