TSHWANE EN JOHANNESBURG. – Die Springbokke se Trofeetoer skop vanoggend om 09:30 in Pretoria af.

Beide die Tshwane- en Johannesburg- metropolisiedepartemente het ‘n verklaring uitgereik om ondersteuners en padverbruikers in te lig oor watter paaie geraak sal word.

Omstreeks 11:30 sal Cilliers Brink, die uitvoerende burgemeester van Tshwane, die Springbokke namens inwoners met hul oorwinning as Wêreldrugbykampioene gelukwens.

Kabelo Gwamanda, die uitvoerende burgemeester van Johannesburg, sal omstreeks 16:00 by FNB-stadion in Soweto ‘n spreekbeurt met die Springbokke hê.

Die metropolisie, SAPD en ander wetstoepassingsowerhede sal deurtentyd die toer begelei en monitor.

STREETS THAT WILL BE AFFECTED BY THE SPRINGBOK VICTORY OPEN BUS PARADE ON THURSDAY, 2 NOVEMBER 2023

The South African rugby team, the Springboks, will celebrate their victory by an open bus parade in Tshwane on Thursday, 2 November 2023.The parade will start at 09:30 at the Southern Sun Hotel on the corner of Steve Biko Road and Pretorius Street. The Springboks will parade through Hatfield, Sunnyside and Church Square, and end at Tshwane House in the Pretoria CBD at around 11:30.

At Tshwane House, the Springboks will meet the Executive Mayor of Tshwane, Cllr Cilliers Brink, who will congratulate the Boks on behalf of Tshwane residents.

The Springboks open bus parade will proceed as follows:

From the Southern Sun Hotel, the team will transfer into the open bus and move along Steve Biko Road and then turn right into Stanza Bopape Street. They will proceed straight east using Stanza Bopape Street and pass the Union Buildings until they turn right into End Street in Hatfield.

From End Street, they will turn right to get to Pretorius Street and proceed west, then turn left into Gordon Road, right into Burnett Street and left to Park Street. From Park Street, they will turn left into Kirkness Street, pass Loftus Versfeld Stadium and turn right into Jorissen Street in Sunnyside.

From Jorissen Street, they will proceed along the A Re Yeng bus route at Kotze Street. They will then turn into Nana Sita Street and turn right into Paul Kruger Street. They will pass by Church Square, turn right into Madiba Street and continue until they reach Tshwane House on the corner of Madiba and Lilian Ngoyi Street.

Most streets in the CBD, Arcadia, Hatfield and Sunnyside will be greatly impacted as the parade passes by, but the streets will be open for traffic immediately thereafter. The mainly affected streets include the following:

Tshwane Metro Police Department officers, SAPS and other law enforcement agencies will be deployed to escort and monitor the parade. Motorists are urged to avoid the affected areas and are encouraged to be patient and proceed with caution as the whole nation celebrates.

ROADS AFFECTED BY THE SPRINGBOK VICTORY TOUR IN JOHANNESBURG AND SOWETO ON THURSDAY, 2 NOVEMBER 2023

The Springboks will celebrate their 2023 Rugby World Cup Victory with an open bus parade in Johannesburg and Soweto on Thursday, 02 November 2023.

The parade will start at 14h00 at Helpmekaar College on Melle Street in Braamfontein, turning right onto Ameshoff Street, left onto Jan Smuts Avenue/Bertha Street travelling across the Nelson Mandela Bridge/Ntemi Piliso Street, turning left onto Lillian Ngoyi Street, right onto Simmonds Street towards FNB Bank City where the FNB CEO will give a speech from Springbok Bus roof.

The parade will then travel down Simmonds Street, and turn right onto Commissioner Street which becomes Main Reef Road. They will turn left at Nasrec Road past Riverlea and past the Johannesburg Expo Centre. The parade will then turn right onto Rand Show Road which becomes Ben Naude Street in Diepkloof. They will turn left onto Immink Drive and right onto Chris Hani Road travelling past Maponya Mall.

The parade will turn right onto Klipspruit Valley Road, left onto Kumalo Main Road in Orlando West, left onto Vilakazi Street, and right at Moema Street towards the Hector Pieterson Memorial. They will travel down Kumalo Main Road, turning left onto Klipspruit Valley Road and right onto Soweto Highway.

The parade will then take the Shaft 17 offramp and turn right onto Nasrec Road into SAFA House Gate to FNB Stadium for a lap of honour and a keynote address by Executive Mayor Cllr Kabelo Gwamanda at 16h00.

Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) officers, SAPS, Gauteng Traffic Police and other law enforcement agencies will be deployed to escort and monitor the parade. JMPD officers will correspondingly assist with traffic control on the victory tour route.

Motorists are urged to exercise patience throughout the parade and to avoid the affected routes.
