KWAZULU-NATAL. – Motoriste word gewaarsku om die N3 by die Spaghetti-junction by Westville te vermy. ‘n Chemikalie, vermoedelik soutsuur, is op die teeropervlak gemors.
Garrith Jamieson van ALS Paramedics sê die paaie is na beide kante toe vir verkeer gesluit. Motoriste word gevra om die area ten alle koste te vermy. Die chemikalie is gevaarlik vir mense se gesondheid en die area is boonop mistig. Durban-brandweer en hazmat-spanne is op die toneel wat steeds aktief is.
Paramedici het vyf persone vir chemiese inaseming op die toneel behandel. Twee is polisielede en die ander drie werkers.
Voertuie wat tans op die N3 in die omgewing is, staan doodstil.

Durban-metropolisie het die volgende waarskuwing uitgereik:

There are major traffic disruptions this morning which will impact traffic on the N3 and N2 both bounds.
1. There is a hydrochloric chemical spillage on the N3 eastbound before the N2 northbound and southbound split. Traffic traveling on the N3 eastbound will be closed off at Richmond Road and diverted onto Richmond Road. Traffic that is stuck on the N3 eastbound between Richmond Road and Spine Road will be diverted onto Spine Road, Westville. The N3 eastbound by Spine Road will be closed to traffic. We are unable to determine how long the closure will last. The West fire officer and chemical unit will assess the situation to determine the duration of the freeway closure.
2. On the N2 southbound by the M7, there has been a serious motor vehicle collision which is impacting traffic flowing southbound.
3. On the N2 northbound, a truck is obstructing traffic at the M1 and by Westwood Mall, impacting traffic between the N2 northbound by NPC to Spaghetti Junction.
