SASSA Moya app: data-free status checks in 2026
The SASSA Moya app data-free setup lets beneficiaries check their SRD R370 status and access SASSA services without spending airtime or mobile data. Moya is not a SASSA app: it is a third-party application by Datafree Africa that includes zero-rated access to the official SASSA website.
How data-free access works
According to Datafree Africa’s Google Play listing, selected MoyaApp services work data-free in South Africa on the MTN, Vodacom, Telkom and Cell C networks. Mobile data must be switched on for the data-free routing to function, but no data is deducted from your bundle for the supported services.
What you can do inside Moya
- Check your SRD R370 status
- Apply for the SRD grant via the in-app browser to the official portal
- Send text messages and voice notes
- Use partner services such as load-shedding schedules and news
How to install Moya
- Open the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.
- Search for MoyaApp.
- Install and open the app.
- Register with your South African cellphone number.
- Use the in-app services section to access SASSA.
What Moya does not do
Moya does not pay your grant or replace your Postbank account. It is a free third-party portal that gives data-free access to public services. SASSA does not endorse the app, but the underlying SASSA pages are accessible through it.
