JOHANNESBURG. – Two international guest artists will join the Swan Lake cast at Montecasino when Cape Ballet Africa opens its strictly limited Johannesburg season at the Teatro on Friday, 7 August.

Guest artists dance Prince Siegfried
Paris-born Aubin Le Marchand, a principal dancer with Béjart Ballet Lausanne, arrives in South Africa towards the end of July. He trained at the Paris Opera Ballet School and danced leading roles with the Croatian National Theatre in Split and Tulsa Ballet before joining the Swiss company in 2025.
Austrian principal Solomon Osazuva also returns as a guest artist. He graduated from the Ballet Academy of the Vienna State Opera and previously worked with Cape Ballet Africa on its November 2025 production of Giselle.
Local dancers in principal roles
Company artists Gabriel Ravenscroft, Joshua Williams and Gabriel Fernandes Da Silva also dance Prince Siegfried, while Leanè Theunissen, Paige McElligott, Maryana Pobuta and Savannah Ireland share the dual role of Odette and Odile.
“I love the duality of light and dark,” Theunissen said in a press release issued to DailyPod. “In dancing both Odette and Odile, the challenge is to bring forth a whole range of emotions within the span of two hours.”
The production is choreographed and directed by former English National Ballet lead principal Elena Glurjidze, with sets by Michael Mitchell and costumes by Marcel Meyer.
Dates and ticket prices
The season runs to Sunday, 23 August, with no Tuesday performances. Tickets range from R220 to R720 and are available through Webtickets. The show is recommended for ages five and older.
