‘n Vragmotorstaking wat na bewering vanoggend vroeg of reeds gisteraand sou begin, is vir eers van die baan.

SA Trucker sê die All Truck Drivers Forum and Allied South Africa (ATDF ASA) het na ‘n vergadering aangekondig die beplande protesaksie is vir eers tydelik gestop.

Volgens die inligting wat versprei is, is die rede vir die staking protes die indiensneming van buitelandse burgers as vragmotorbestuurders.

Roetes word steeds gemonitor en motoriste word gemaan om waaksaam te wees.

“On behalf of the All Truck Drivers Forum and Allied South Africa, we would like to inform you that our planned national shutdown is temporarily suspended. We will closely monitor the implementation plan agreed upon in our visual meeting on 19 May 2024 around 14:00. The ATDF-ASA leadership urged all members to refrain from any illegal actions and expressed hope that government departments would uphold their commitment to intensify inspections and enforcement of compliance regulations. We urge all our members to distance themselves from any form of illegal action. We hope government departments will do as agreed, intensifying inspection and enforcement in terms of compliance. We shall stand together and united.”

In response of the warnings circulating regarding the planned ATDF Truck Strike in the early hours of Monday morning, it is imperative that we all remain vigilant and contribute to the efforts of the SAPS, Metro Police Services, and security in our respective areas as we collaborate together. We can assure you that the SAPS is adequately prepared for any potential scenarios.

Reports suggest that these Road Blockades and Protests may commence as early as tonight from 21:00, as indicated by some Truck Drivers.

I urge everyone to exercise caution while using the roads and promptly report any suspicious Truck activity, protests, or any incidents that may jeopardize the safety of fellow road users. Utilize your Emergency or Local Whatsapp groups to notify the authorities and take necessary actions to address any criminal behavior.

Vigilance must be maintained for incidents like rock throwing in areas.
