Gayton McKenzie, die nuwe minister van sport, kuns en kultuur (DSAC), het vanoggend op X aangekondig hy het alle betaling van reis- en verblyfkostes deur sy departement vir aanhangers stopgesit.
Hy het in sy plasing gesê daar is atlete en kunstenaars wat sukkel om geld te kry om sportbyeenkomste en uitstallings by te woon. McKenzie het gesê die geld wat gebruik is om sogenaamde superfans, soos Mama Joy Chauke en Botha Msila, na die geleenthede te stuur, gaan eerder gebruik word waar dit nodig is.
In nog ’n plasing het hy gesê: “As jy niks verkeerd gedoen het nie, hoef jy nie bekommerd te wees nie”. Hy het ook gesê hy is verbaas oor hoeveel van die kunstenaars wat kla, befondsing van die DSAC ontvang.
I have stopped all trips for super fans, we have athletes & artist who are struggling to raise money to attend sporting events and exhibitions, how do we justify paying for fans? We shall no longer be paying for these trips and will use that money where it’s needed the most.

If you did nothing wrong or didn’t benefit untowardly you have no reason to fear, I have given a clear instruction that the public be made aware of the people that got funding, today! I was shocked when I realised how many complaining artist are receiving money from DSAC.
