WES-KAAP. – Brig.
Ian Cameron sê: “This is a massive success for the people of Paarl, but also for South Africans that say no to racism. SAPS must be fully focussed on combating crime, serving all South Africans without racial or ideological bias.”

Action Society received great news that Paarl SAPS Brigadier Nokuthala Pete has resigned from the South African Police Service just a week before disciplinary processes would have started. We are delighted with this development as we firmly believe that all corrupt and racist leaders should be ousted from positions of power. This is a step in the right direction and one that should give hope to all South Africans.
“We believe she would been sacked had she not resigned and this is a massive success for the people of Paarl, but also for South Africans that say no to racism. It is a success for organisations that stood together and said NO to her behaviour as a so-called leader. Action Society, Solidariteit, Drakenstein Sakekamer and the Paarl CPF stood together as one to ensure that the pressure was held on SAPS management. The South African Police Service must be fully focussed on combating crime and serving all the good people of South Africa. Appointments must be made according to the existing guidelines of the SAPS and even more so, on merit,” said Director of Community Safety at Action Society, Ian Cameron.
Pete made racist remarks on her Facebook page last year, calling the Paarl SAPS ‘too white’. She also encouraged someone to apply for a transfer to Paarl and promised to sign off on it. A disciplinary investigation commenced shortly after the incident. Action Society believes that the Paarl SAPS will operate more effectively with strong leadership that acts in the interest of all, and is not blinded by race or ideology.
