KWAZULU-NATAL. – Ferdie Visser, die persoon van belang in die saak van die vermiste visserman, John Matambu, is steeds in Mosambiek.
Kol. Nqobile Gwala het aan Nuusflits gesê daar word steeds aan die uitleweringsproses gewerk nadat die verdagte Vrydag in Mosambiek in hegtenis geneem is.
Nuusflits het voorheen soos volg berig:
Ferdie Visser van Komatipoort, soos deur St. Lucia-skibootklub geïdentifiseer, was sedert die verdwyning van John Matambu op 16 Maart as die persoon saam op die boot Magnum Too gesoek. Hy sal glo volgende week terug wees in Suid-Afrika.
Nuusflits het gister berig Visser is in Mosambiek opgespoor en in hegtenis geneem.
Volgens ‘n opdatering van St. Lucia-skibootklub het Visser nie die inhegtenisneming teengestaan nie en hy behoort reeds vroeg volgende week in die land terug te wees. Hy is glo ondervra, maar het nie enigiets erken nie.
Die plasing sê volgens die owerhede word alles volgens wetlike prosedure hanteer om suksesvolle afhandeling te verseker.

Good afternoon everyone,
Shew. What an emotional day we all had yesterday. It is unbelievable what power a group of people can have when they pull together to become valuable resources.
Firstly we would like to say thank you. Thank you to each and every one of you who have persistently followed Matambu’s story, and who have continued to send in tips, sightings and information that has been used to get us to where we are today. Words will never explain how grateful we are for your efforts.
Ferdie Visser is in custody in Mozambique. He will be deported to South Africa early next week.
This is largely due to your efforts, and the swift action of a hero holidaymaker called Victor, who spotted Ferdie Visser. Victor then had his wife call me, and was instrumental in leading the authorities directly to Ferdie Visser.
Remarkably, Victor refused to accept the reward, stating that good things are done for the good of society, and not for the money. Again, another example of the caliber of people caught up in the quest to bring John Matambu home.
Ferdie Visser did not resist arrest.
He has already been questioned, but as yet, has not admitted anything.
And of course, anything that he does say, has to be verified before we, John Matambu’s family are informed.
We have been told by authorities that over the next couple of days the correct legal processes and paperwork have to be followed in order to secure a successful outcome. We must give the authorities the time required in order to arrive at the truth. And of course, it’s the weekend now.
We will continue to search for John Matambu, and hope that Ferdie Visser will give us truthful answers on what happened on that charter, last week Saturday 16th March.
In the meantime we welcome any verifiable information which could help to uncover the motive behind this nightmare.
