SASSA Postbank account problems 2026: how to resolve them

SASSA Postbank account problems in 2026 have become more frequent as the Gold-to-Black Card migration approaches its 31 August 2026 deadline. Most issues fall into a handful of categories that can be resolved at any Postbank service point.

Card declined at the till or ATM

The most likely reason is that your Gold Card has expired or been blocked under the migration programme. Visit any Postbank service point with your South African ID to collect a free Black Card replacement.

Forgotten or blocked PIN

A PIN reset can be done in person at a Postbank service point with your South African ID.

Balance not reflecting after payment date

First check your status on the SRD portal or the SASSA WhatsApp service. If SASSA confirms the grant was paid but the balance is not in your Postbank account by the next business day, call Postbank customer care on 0800 53 54 55.

Card lost, stolen or swallowed by an ATM

Block the card immediately by calling Postbank on 0800 53 54 55. If the card was stolen, also open a case at your nearest SAPS station and keep the case number. Apply for a free replacement at any Postbank service point.

Suspected unauthorised transactions

Block the card immediately, then report the transactions to Postbank as soon as possible. Lodge a fraud report and ask Postbank for the next steps.
