WES-KAAP. – Die Stad Kaapstad werk onverpoos aan die gevolge van die storm om strukturele, vloed- en brandskade in en om Kaapstad aan te spreek. Elektrisiteit was na die storm oor ‘n groot gebied af.
Spanne het so vinnig as wat hulle kan gewerk om elektrisiteit in stormgeteisterde gebiede te herstel, terwyl ander probleem-areas steeds aandag kry.
Elektrisiteit is nog nie heeltemal in Philippi-Wes, Mfuleni, Hazendal, Lansdowne, Brackenfell, Athlone, Soutrivier, Crawford en Grassypark herstel nie.

City restores electricity in storm affected areas, attends to all remaining affected regions.
The City’s Electricity teams are working to restore electricity supply in the remaining storm affected areas in the metro. Teams have been working nonstop to restore electricity in the affected communities and have already restored power in numerous areas. The City thanks residents for their patience and understanding while we work to restore supply and attend to the damaged infrastructure repairs.
Work continues to restore electricity supply in the remaining storm affected areas. Officials and depot teams in all areas have been on the ground to attend to area outages in the fastest possible time.
Teams are working to restore electricity in parts of:
- Philippi West
- Mfuleni
- Hazendal
- Lansdowne
- Brackenfell
- Athlone
- Salt River
- Crawford
- Grassy Park
‘Damaged infrastructure typically takes some time to repair and we are thankful that weather conditions have improved significantly so that our teams can attend to remaining repairs safely. In many areas, the nature of the repair work is tricky and dangerous, especially in difficult weather conditions. The teams are doing everything in their power to ensure that supply in the remaining areas is restored as quickly as humanly possible,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for #Energy, Cllr Beverley van Reenen.
Hluma Maciko het in kommentaar gekla dit is die derde dag in ‘n informele nedersetting sonder elektrisiteit, terwyl ander inwoners oor krag in Manenberg en die Strand gevra het.
