WES-KAAP.

*City of Cape Town steps up to search for missing Joshlin Smith*
<This is a developing story and the post will be updated as needed>
Yesterday our municipality answered a formal request by Executive Mayor of Saldanha Bay, Andre Truter, to assist in the search for missing Joshlin Smith.
Early this morning multiple teams departed from our municipality and have arrived at Saldanah Bay SAPS for a briefing.
Commissioner Robbie Robberts is coordinating our efforts on land, sea and air. We have sent divers from our Fire & Rescue, skippers from our Law Enforcement Marine Unit, our man-tracking K9 dogs, investigators from our SSIMS and SSIMS, as well as several 4×4 vehicles, rubber ducks and jet skis, and the drone team.
Our operation is about to get underway.
13h15: Our members have joined up with SAPS and have received a full briefing on progress this far.
We have set up a joint command centre and along with SAPS, we are ready to make progress.
Our drone teams are airborne, our water search has begun, imvestigators are following up on info, and are K9’s are about to commence with trailing.
SAPS Investigative teams have already done done excellent work, but their progress has been severely hampered by the destructive videos and social media posts, done by political figures and those seeking online relevance. This has already caused much tension in the community, already leading to public violence and incidents of vigilantism.
