OOS-KAAP. – ’n Bejaarde vrou is dood ná ’n haai-aanval by Orient Beach in Oos-Londen (KuGompo City), waar sy volgens berigte saam met ’n groep oopwaterswemmers geswem het. Die Buffalo City-metro het bevestig dat ’n haai-aanval vanoggend (Dinsdag), by die strand plaasgevind het.
Die Buffalo City-metro het Orient Beach en Eastern Beach tot verdere kennisgewing gesluit en strandgangers versoek om nie by die betrokke strande in die water te gaan nie. Waarskuwings is ook vir ander strande uitgereik en die publiek word versoek om veiligheidsaanwysings van die betrokke owerhede te volg.
Volgens Algoa FM News en ZigZag Surfing Magazine is die vrou met ernstige beserings deur lewensredders uit die water gehaal, waarna kardiopulmonêre resussitasie (KPR) onmiddellik begin is. Paramedici het met hul aankoms met die resussitasiepogings voortgegaan, maar sy is later dood.

Members of the public and all beachgoers are hereby advised that Orient Beach and Eastern Beach have been closed until further notice, following a serious incident reported at Orient Beach this morning. Beachgoers are urged to exercise extreme caution and to refrain from entering the water at the affected beaches.
Warnings are also being issued at other beaches, and members of the public are requested to remain vigilant, adhere to all safety advisories, and comply with instructions issued by the relevant authorities. It has been confirmed that a shark attack occurred at Orient Beach this morning, and this resulted in a tragic incident. Relevant authorities are onsite handling the matter accordingly. Further updates will be communicated as information becomes available.
