Members of the Mopani Tracking Team, Hoshani Security and the K9 anti-hijacking unit conducted a sting operation in the Modjadjiskloof area at approximately 22:30 on 17 September.
A Toyota Cross was stopped in the central business district of Modjadjiskloof. The vehicle was being driven by a 41-year-old man.
According to the SAPD, a search of the vehicle revealed a consignment of allegedly illegal Royal Express cigarettes.
Twelve boxes containing a total of 601 cartons of cigarettes, valued at approximately R235 000, were then counted by police.
