SPCA warns against broken fencing

A strange call came into the Bloemfontein SPCA when a distraught owner came in stating that the skin of his dog’s front leg had been taken completely off.

The SPCA says the owner stated that he had no idea what happened to the poor dog and that he found the dog stuck in his fence.

“It appeared that the dog tried to go through a broken piece of precon wall on the owner’s property and while trying to do so the dog had gotten its leg stuck and as a result, the injury occurred.”

The dog was immediately taken to the SPCA for assistance and the dog was treated.

“We urge owners to examine their properties and to think for their animals as injuries could so easily occur. Please be vigilant about the condition and placement of fencing. Broken fencing should be repaired and maintained not only to keep animals safely in the yard but also to ensure their wellbeing.”
