KWAZULU-NATAL. – Lucas Legabe (49) has been released on R50,000 bail after appearing in the Port Shepstone magistrate's court on Monday morning. The court appearance is in connection with the theft of drugs valued at more than R260 million from a Hawks office.

According to Hawks spokesman Col. Katlego Mogale, Legabe is facing charges of theft, housebreaking and dealing in or alternative possession of illegal drugs. The court imposed several conditions on his bail. He must, among other things, report to the Brooklyn police station every Monday between 06:00 and 18:00 and hand over all his travel documents to the investigating officer.
