WES-KAAP. – ’n Verdagte het op aanklagte van moord en huisroof in die Ladismith-landdroshof verskyn, waarna die saak vir verdere ondersoek tot 30 Julie uitgestel is. Valerie Enzer (79) se liggaam is omstreeks 09:00 op 14 Julie op die stoep van haar huis op ‘n plaas buite Van Wyksdorp gekry. Soos voorheen berig, is ‘n tienerseun (17) as verdagte in hegtenis geneem.
Sers. Christopher Spies, polisiewoordvoerder, bevestig aan Nuusflits ‘n lykskouing om die oorsaak van Enzer se dood te bepaal, is op 15 Julie uitgevoer. Die verslag van die lykskouing is nog uitstaande en vorm deel van die polisie se voortgesette ondersoek. Verdere aanklagte kan bygevoeg word namate die ondersoek vorder.
Die saak is vir verdere ondersoek aan ondersoekbeamptes van die Wes-Kaapse eenheid vir ernstige en geweldsmisdade toegewys.

Today, I want to remember a truly remarkable woman, a force of nature who graced our lives with her vibrant spirit, unwavering passion, and boundless kindness. On July 14th, in the tranquil setting of her beautiful farm and nature preserve in Van Wyksdorp, Western Cape, South Africa, my mother lost her life in a brutal farm attack. She was an incredibly talented artist, her creativity flowing onto canvases that captured the beauty she saw in the world around her. She was also wonderfully stubborn, a trait that anyone who knew her understood well. Once her mind was made up, there was simply no changing it – a testament to her strong will and conviction. Her heart held a deep and abiding love for horses, cats, and all the wildlife that shared her beloved Africa. But above all, she cherished her freedom. It was a freedom she refused to relinquish, even when we all tried to persuade her to move closer to family. That independent spirit, that unwavering commitment to living life on her own terms, was an intrinsic part of who she was. I will always remember her passion for her animals, a passion that lives on in me and my son, and perhaps a touch of her stubbornness does too. She lived her life fully, authentically, and with a fierce love for the land and its creatures. While her physical presence is no longer with us, the indelible mark she left on all of our hearts and in the world will remain forever. She will be profoundly missed by everyone who knew her, but her spirit, as wild and free as the African landscape she adored, will continue to inspire us all. She had a premonition this was coming and left stern instructions to bury her without fuss on the land she loved, next to the animals that went before her. She was not into organized religion, so please do not send prayers.
